Tennis fans everywhere are getting ready for an epic showdown between two up-and-coming stars, Carlos Alcaraz and Jack Draper, in the fourth round of the 2025 Australian Open on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Both players have been showing off amazing talent and grit this tournament, so this match is set to be a display of skill and tactics. Check out our prediction for Carlos Alcaraz vs Jack Draper, along with our pick for the match.

The Carlos Alcaraz Preview!

Carlos Alcaraz Preview

Carlos Alcaraz had to battle through four sets against Nuno Borges to secure his place in the second week of the 2025 Australian Open. He lost his first set of the tournament in a tie-break but came out on top with scores of 6-2, 6-4, 6-7, 6-2 in just under three hours.

During the win, Alcaraz nailed 54 winners and had 50 unforced errors. He also served up nine aces and three double faults. Alcaraz got 61% of his first serves in and snagged 84% of the points when he did (56/67). He won 57% of the points on his second serve (24/42) and saved all three break points against him. His first serve averaged a speed of 193 km/h, while his second serve averaged 155 km/h.

The Spaniard snagged 39% of the return points (54 out of 137) and nailed five out of 13 break points. Alcaraz is shooting for a spot in the quarterfinals for the second year in a row, after losing to Alexander Zverev last season.

The Jack Draper Preview!

Jack Draper Preview

Thanks to Jack Draper's amazing performance, the British flag will still be waving in the second week of the Australian Open. Ranked No. 18 in the world, he pulled off his third straight five-set victory to surprisingly make it to the last 16.

Draper took down another Aussie to advance. He edged out Aleksandar Vukic with scores of 6-4, 2-6, 5-7, 7-6, 7-6 after an intense four-hour tennis match. Draper racked up 74 winners and 45 unforced errors, with 29 aces and four double faults along the way.

Draper hit 68% of his first serves and snagged 75% of the points from them (84/112). He also won 52% of his second-serve points (27/52) and managed to save eight out of 14 break points. The British lefty grabbed 36% of his return points (67/188) and converted four out of 18 break points. This is Draper's best performance yet at the Australian Open. Can he keep it going?

Match Prediction!

Carlos Alcaraz

The Pick: Carlos Alcaraz in straight sets

Before the new season kicked off, Draper shared that his off-season got messed up because of a hip injury, making him skip the United Cup to focus on a longer career. Well, he's definitely had a longer run at the Australian Open, that's for sure. But after three exhausting matches, Draper's got a tough road ahead if he wants to keep going in the tournament. He's not in the best shape to take on Alcaraz, who's been amazing so far. Draper's serve is about the only thing that might keep the score from looking too bad, but I totally expect Alcaraz to win this match in less than four sets.
