Wawrinka has made it to two finals there, winning the title in 2015 by beating Tomas Berdych and losing to Gael Monfils in 2019. He last played in 2023, where he lost to Sinner in the quarterfinals.
Wawrinka is 0-2 this year. He played at the Australian Open in his first tournament of 2025, losing to Lorenzo Sonego, who made it to the quarterfinals, in four sets. In his second tournament, he lost in the first round of the Montpellier Open to Arthur Cazaux. So he's heading to Rotterdam looking for his first win of the season.

The Pick: Daniil Medvedev in straight sets
At 39 and ranked outside the top 100, Wawrinka is definitely in the later stages of his amazing career. He's a three-time Grand Slam champ who could take down the best in tennis on his day, but now he's not quite the player he used to be. He can still pull off some impressive shots with his killer backhand, but he just doesn't have the stamina and power to keep up at the top level anymore. Even though Medvedev has been a bit shaky at the start of 2025, he should easily win this match. I'm betting on Medvedev in two sets.
