Over the weekend against TCU, the Cyclones started strong with a 42-24 lead. They kept the momentum going in the second half with a 40-28 run, eventually winning big, 82-52. Curtis Jones led the scoring, coming off the bench to rack up 24 points, a rebound, and an assist in 28 minutes. On the Central Florida side, they started off great in their first dozen games, but things have been tough since then. The Knights took down Texas A&M, Fort Wayne, FAU, Tennessee Tech, Milwaukee, Cal Baptist, Tarleton State, Tulsa, Jacksonville, and Texas Tech in those initial 12 games. However, in the last 11 games, they’ve gone 3-8. They managed to beat Colorado, Arizona State, and TCU, but lost to Kansas, Arizona, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, BYU, Cincinnati, and Baylor. So far, the Knights have a 13-10 overall record.
During the Baylor game on Saturday, the Knights were down 45-36 at halftime. UCF got outscored 46-40 in the second half, ending up with a 91-76 loss. Keyshawn Hall led the team with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Moustapha Thiam added 18 points and three rebounds, while Darius Johnson scored 12 points and handed out five assists in the loss.

I’m sticking with Iowa State. The Cyclones handled a so-so TCU team pretty well last game, shooting a solid 59.6 percent from the field with 30 rebounds and 17 team assists. It was a win they really needed after a three-game losing streak where they only scored 113 points combined against Kansas State and Kansas.
