The Iowa State Cyclones Team Preview!

Iowa State has had a pretty good season so far, but they've hit a bit of a rough patch with wins lately. The Cyclones kicked things off strong with a 15-1 record in their first 16 games, beating teams like MS Valley State, Kansas City, IUPUI, Dayton, Colorado, Marquette, Jackson State, Iowa, Omaha, Morgan State, Colorado, Baylor, Utah, Texas Tech, and Kansas. But since then, they've been on a bumpy 3-4 run. They managed to snag wins against UCF, Arizona State, and TCU, but took losses to West Virginia, Arizona, Kansas State, and Kansas. That puts the Cyclones at an 18-5 record through their first 23 games of the season.
Over the weekend against TCU, the Cyclones started strong with a 42-24 lead. They kept the momentum going in the second half with a 40-28 run, eventually winning big, 82-52. Curtis Jones led the scoring, coming off the bench to rack up 24 points, a rebound, and an assist in 28 minutes. Joshua Jefferson also made a big impact with a double-double, scoring 13 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and snagging two steals.
The UCF Knights Team Preview!

On the Central Florida side, they started off great in their first dozen games, but things have been tough since then. The Knights took down Texas A&M, Fort Wayne, FAU, Tennessee Tech, Milwaukee, Cal Baptist, Tarleton State, Tulsa, Jacksonville, and Texas Tech in those initial 12 games. However, in the last 11 games, they’ve gone 3-8. They managed to beat Colorado, Arizona State, and TCU, but lost to Kansas, Arizona, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas, BYU, Cincinnati, and Baylor. So far, the Knights have a 13-10 overall record.
During the Baylor game on Saturday, the Knights were down 45-36 at halftime. UCF got outscored 46-40 in the second half, ending up with a 91-76 loss. Keyshawn Hall led the team with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two assists. Moustapha Thiam added 18 points and three rebounds, while Darius Johnson scored 12 points and handed out five assists in the loss.
The Iowa State vs UCF Game Prediction!

The Pick: Iowa State -7 -130
I’m sticking with Iowa State. The Cyclones handled a so-so TCU team pretty well last game, shooting a solid 59.6 percent from the field with 30 rebounds and 17 team assists. They did get a bit careless with 15 turnovers leading to 12 points, but that’s really the only downside. It was a win they really needed after a three-game losing streak where they only scored 113 points combined against Kansas State and Kansas.
These teams faced off before on January 21, with the Cyclones snagging a 108-83 win at home. Iowa State came out strong with a 54-36 lead by halftime and shot 56.3 percent overall. They also had a 43-29 edge in rebounds, 19 assists, and 16 steals, plus they scored 25 points off 19 UCF turnovers. The Knights probably won't be as careless in the rematch, so Iowa State will need another hot shooting performance and to dominate the boards again. If everything goes smoothly, the Cyclones should pull it off.
