Preview

Auburn Tigers Preview

Auburn's Johni Broome

Auburn comes to its second Final Four with a record of 32-5. Typically known for their elite defense, Bruce Pearl’s team has drawn the life out of its opponents during the tournament, as not one has exceeded one point per possession. The Tigers' identity revolves around All-American forward Johni Broome, who is averaging 18.5 points and 10.8 rebounds a game. But Broome is working through an elbow injury that could limit his effectiveness in the paint. Auburn’s offensive inconsistency and a limited rotation will continue to cause concern, particularly against a Florida team with a bench that can find production.

Projected Starting Lineup:Green Jr., Jones, Williams, Broome, Cardwell

Florida Gators Preview

Florida Gator's Walter Clayton Jr

Florida comes into the semifinals red-hot, having won 14 of their last 15 games. Todd Golden’s team is playing a balanced offensive game, led by sharpshooter Walter Clayton Jr. They’re a constant threat with their ability to come back, with their strong 3-point shooting. Florida beat Auburn 90-81 earlier this season, in that game Clayton scored 19 points. Defense is their vulnerability, but it may be outweighed by the offensive firepower and bench production.

Projected Starting Lineup:Clayton Jr., Richard, Samuel, Condon, Kugel

Key Stats

  • Auburn has not allowed tournament opponents to shoot better than 32% from three.

  • Florida made 13 threes in its win over Auburn in February.

  • Johni Broome is averaging a double-double but is listed as questionable with an elbow injury.

  • Florida’s bench has outscored the benches of its opponents in every game of the tournament.

  • Key rotation minutes, Auburn has used nine players.

Player Props

  • Walter Clayton Jr. Over 17.5 Points (-115):Clayton has lit up for 18+ in three of the last four games and shredded Auburn earlier in the season with 19. If the game remains tight, expect him to have the ball late in the game.

  • Johni Broome Under 9.5 Rebounds (-110):Given Broome’s elbow issue and a physical 5 for the Boilermakers in Alex Condon, I can see the Auburn center’s rebounding numbers taking a hit below his season average.

Final Prediction

Florida’s versatility, clutch shot-making, and depth give them a narrow edge over a banged-up Auburn squad. If Broome isn’t at full strength, Auburn could struggle to control the paint or keep pace offensively. Expect a tight contest, but the Gators should edge through to the title game.

Pick: Florida -2.5Total Points: Over 160.5Final Score Prediction: Florida 83, Auburn 78
