Game Preview!

The TCU Horned Frogs and the West Virginia Mountaineers

I am excited for showdown! we have the TCU Horned Frogs facing off against the West Virginia Mountaineers this Tuesday at the WVU Coliseum! With March Madness just around the corner, the stakes are super high, and both teams are itching to make an impact. In this exciting matchup, we'll break down a TCU vs West Virginia prediction, looking at the game from a betting angle to help you make the smartest pick.

The TCU Horned Frogs Team Preview!

TCU Horned Frogs

The Frogs have had a bit of a rollercoaster year, but lately, they've been racking up some wins. They kicked things off with a 10-7 stretch, snagging victories against Florida A&M, Florida Gulf Coast, Texas State, Alcorn State, Xavier, South Alabama, Montana State, Kansas State, BYU, and Baylor. Then, they hit a rough patch with losses to Kansas, UCF, and Texas Tech. But they bounced back with a 5-1 streak, only dropping a game to Iowa State, while beating Colorado, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Arizona State, and Texas Tech. So far, TCU's sitting at a 15-11 record over their first 26 games this year.

In Saturday's game against Cincinnati, TCU was down 31-24 at halftime. The Frogs were outscored 44-39 in the second half and ended up losing 75-63. David Punch led the team with 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Vasean Allette chipped in with 13 points and six rebounds. Even though they lost, the team showed some grit and is ready to bounce back in their next games.

The West Virginia Mountaineers Team Preview!

West Virginia Mountaineers Betting Preview

On the West Virginia side, they started off strong but have been a bit inconsistent since early January. The Mountaineers had an impressive 11-2 record in their first 13 games, only losing to Pittsburgh and Louisville. Then they went 4-6 in the next 10 games, snagging wins against Colorado, Iowa State, Cincinnati, and Utah, but losing to Arizona, Houston, Arizona State, Kansas State, and TCU. After dropping games to BYU and Baylor, WVU bounced back with a win over Cincinnati, bringing their overall record to 16-10 in their first 26 games.

When the Mountaineers went up against Texas Tech over the weekend, they were down by three points at halftime. Things didn't get any better after that, as they got outscored 43-24 in the second half, ending up with a 73-51 loss. Amani Hansberry was the standout with a double-double, putting up 14 points and snagging 11 rebounds. Javon Small added 10 points, five assists, and two rebounds, while Eduardo Andre scored six points in his 15 minutes off the bench.

The TCU vs West Virginia Game Prediction!

West Virginia Hoops Prediction

The Pick: West Virginia -7

I'm leaning towards West Virginia for this one, but honestly, it's a toss-up. The Mountaineers didn't look great after losing to Texas Tech over the weekend. They shot a rough 32.8% from the field and just 22.2% from three-point range (hitting only 6 out of 27), plus they were out-rebounded 41-31. That makes it three losses in their last four games, and they've scored under 70 points in three of those too.

When these teams faced off on February 5, the Frogs snagged a 65-60 win at their place. West Virginia struggled with rebounds, losing 34-26, but managed to score 23 points from 15 TCU turnovers. Otherwise, the teams were pretty evenly matched, but TCU nailed 20 free throws compared to just two from the Mountaineers. West Virginia will need to step up their game for the rematch, but playing at home should give them a boost.
