The Tennessee Team Preview!

The Volunteers jumped out to a great 14-0 start this year, then hit a rough 3-4 run that featured losses to Florida, Vanderbilt, Auburn and Kentucky. Tennessee would get it going with wins over Florida, Missouri and Oklahoma from there, then took a loss to Kentucky again. The Volunteers finished off with wins over Vanderbilt, Texas A&M, LSU and Alabama before taking a loss to LSU and beating South Carolina and Texas in the tournament matchups. That gives the Volunteers a 26-6 record so far this year.
On Friday against Texas, Tennessee was up by three at halftime. The Volunteers kicked it up a notch in the second half with a 42-34 run and snagged the win 83-72. Chaz Lanier led the scoring with 23 points, while Zakai Zeigler chipped in 19 points, six assists, and two steals. Jahmai Mashack scored 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds, dished out four assists, and snagged a steal in 35 minutes. Igor Milicic added 12 points, seven rebounds, three blocks, two steals, and three fouls in 31 minutes on the court during the win.

The Auburn Team Preview!

Over on the Auburn side, they’ve been pretty sharp all season—outside of a couple late losses. The Tigers opened on a 7-1 run, then hit a win streak over Richmond, Ohio State, Georgia State, Purdue, Monmouth, Missouri, Texas, South Carolina, Mississippi State, Georgia, Tennessee, LSU, Ole Miss, and Oklahoma before another loss to Florida. A win streak over Vanderbilt, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Ole Miss and Kentucky came next, then consecutive losses to close out the regular season versus Texas A&M and Alabama. After their tourney win over Ole Miss, the Tigers now have a 28-4 record over 32 games this year so far.
On Friday, when the Tigers took on Ole Miss, they were up 29-22 at halftime. Auburn got outscored by two points in the second half but still managed to secure a solid win, finishing 62-57. Johni Broome led the team with 23 points and 15 rebounds. Denver Jones chipped in with 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists. Miles Kelly scored nine points and grabbed three rebounds, while Chad Baker-Mazara led the bench with seven points, six assists, and a steal.
The Tennessee Vs Auburn Game Prediction!

The Pick: Auburn -3.5 -110
I'm leaning toward Auburn for this game, but it should be a great matchup. The Tigers bounced back nicely in their tournament game against Ole Miss on Friday after ending the regular season with two losses. Auburn shot a decent 45.1 percent and had a 38-28 edge in rebounds. However, they were a bit sloppy with 15 turnovers, giving Ole Miss 18 points. On defense, Auburn held the Rebels to just 37.7 percent shooting, so it worked out. The 62 points they scored was their lowest since they put up 53 in a two-point win over Tennessee way back on January 25.
The last time these teams met was on January 25, when Auburn won 53-51 at home. Both teams shot pretty poorly in that game (under 32 percent), and there were 23 combined turnovers. The Tigers pulled off the win thanks to a 42-37 rebounding advantage, but it was close the whole way. You could definitely argue for the Vols in this tournament rematch, but I'm sticking with Auburn in another tight finish.
