The Villanova Wildcats Team Preview!

Villanova Basketball

The Wildcats had a bit of a rough patch back in January and February, but overall, they’re doing pretty well this year. They started off with a shaky 3-4 record, but then they turned it around with eight wins in their next nine games, only losing to Creighton. After that, they hit another bump, losing five out of six games to St. John’s, Xavier, Georgetown, Marquette, and Creighton. They bounced back with wins over DePaul, Xavier, and St. John’s. Following victories against Providence and UConn, Villanova has recently beaten Marquette, Seton Hall, and Butler in their last three games, bringing their record to 18-12 over 30 games this year.

During Saturday's game against Butler, the Wildcats started the second half with a 43-35 lead. Villanova outscored Butler 37-35 from there, wrapping up the game with an 80-70 win. Eric Dixon led the team with 34 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Jordan Longino contributed 14 points, two rebounds, and two assists in his 32 minutes on the court, while Wooga Poplar added 12 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

The Georgetown Hoyas Team Preview!

Georgetown Hoyas Betting Preview

On the Georgetown side, things were looking awesome in early January, but it's been a tough ride since then. The Hoyas kicked things off with a 12-2 run, only losing to Notre Dame and West Virginia. But then they hit a rough patch, dropping five out of their next six games against Marquette, UConn, St. John’s, DePaul, Providence, and St. John’s again. After that, they went 3-5 over the last eight games. They snagged wins against Butler, Seton Hall, and Providence, but lost to Xavier, Butler, Creighton, UConn, and Marquette. So, Georgetown's sitting at a 16-13 record for their first 29 games of the 2024-25 season.

In their Saturday game against Marquette, the Hoyas found themselves trailing 39-22 by halftime. They improved in the second half with 39 points, but still ended up losing 76-61 at home. Micah Peavy was the top scorer with 15 points and six rebounds. Jordan Burks managed a double-double, scoring 11 points, grabbing 10 rebounds, and snagging two steals. Curtis Williams chipped in with 14 points and three rebounds coming off the bench.

The Villanova vs Georgetown Game Prediction!

The Pick : Nova -3.5 -110

I'm leaning towards Villanova for this one. The Wildcats did a great job against a so-so Butler team in their last win, shooting a solid 50.8 percent from the field, grabbing 36 rebounds, dishing out 17 assists, and only committing six turnovers. They also held the Bulldogs to just 40 percent shooting. That's three wins in a row for Villanova, scoring 80 or more points in two of those games.

Villanova lost 64-63 at home when these teams last played on January 20. The Wildcats started strong but slipped up towards the end, shooting 40 percent and giving away 16 turnovers, which led to 16 points for the Hoyas. Apart from that, the Wildcats did pretty well, with a 41-30 advantage in rebounds and keeping Georgetown to just 36.2 percent shooting. I think Villanova has a solid chance in the rematch on the road.
